Honoring Ibu Kariany K. Sembiring

Ibu Kariany K. Sembiring was an extraordinary figure who laid the strong foundation for Lorena Group. Her dedication to the company and her family is immeasurable, making her an inspiration to future generations in both the family and the business world.

She was born in Medan, North Sumatra, on October 17, 1946. She met G.T. Soerbakti, an officer in the Indonesian Army who graduated from the National Military Academy, and they were married on July 27, 1968.

In 1970, they started CV Lorena with just two buses. From this humble beginning, they built the foundation of a company that has since grown to encompass transportation, plantations, cargo, energy, and property under the umbrella of Lorena Holding Company.

Throughout her life, Ibu Kariany was not only known as the President Commissioner of Lorena Group but also as a role model for her three children: Eka Sari Lorena Soerbakti, Dwi Ryanta Soerbakti, and Trihayu Mitra Karina Soerbakti, as well as five grandchildren who are the pride of the family.

She was also a devoted servant of God, becoming the “Pillar of Prayer” for the family and the company. Ibu Kariany shared 56 years of marriage filled with love, perseverance, and sacrifice until she passed away on March 24, 2024, in Singapore, leaving a legacy of noble values that will serve as an example for the extended family and Lorena Group.
